The Upside-Down
Social Network
Social media was built to maximise reach: more followers, more strangers, more ads. MiFamilias flips the pyramid — the smallest circle of people you trust most sits at the top, and everything else must earn its way in.
Traditional Social Media
Built downward from reach. You are the product.
MiFamilias
Built upward from trust. You are the point.
Trust bubbles, not follower counts
Every family on MiFamilias lives inside a closed trust bubble. Only people inside the bubble can see, share, or send anything. There are no followers, no public profiles to harvest, and no algorithm deciding who deserves your attention — because nobody outside your family ever gets it.
How the old world works
- Anyone can follow, message, or target you
- Engagement algorithms amplify outrage
- Your data trains their advertising machine
- "Friends" you've never met
How a trust bubble works
- Closed circle — invitation and consensus only
- Chronological family feed, no manipulation
- Family content never leaves the bubble
- Every member is someone you actually know
Your family vouches you in — no algorithm can
Joining a family isn't a friend request, it's a welcome. New members arrive as pending and become full members only when existing family members vouch for them. Long-standing members carry more vouching weight — exactly like trust works in real life.
Invited
A family member sends a secure, personal invitation
Pending
The newcomer joins in a waiting state — seen, but not yet trusted
Vouched
Family members vouch, weighted by their own tenure and ties
Family
Full member — welcomed by people, not approved by a machine
Example: Uncle Marco joins the Garcia family
Parents govern, not platforms
On most platforms an algorithm decides what a 13-year-old sees. On MiFamilias, guardians do — and the platform enforces their decisions on the server, where no app setting, clever workaround, or recommendation engine can override them.
A minor wants to join
Any family join by an under-16 pauses automatically
Guardian is asked
A verified guardian reviews and approves or declines
Rules set once
Guardians choose what's appropriate — content, contacts, ad categories
Enforced everywhere
Server-side. Restricted categories can never reach the child
Every memory is checked before it's kept
MiFamilias is a custodian of irreplaceable family memories — some sealed in time capsules for decades. So content isn't just uploaded, it's validated: five gentle checks that protect your family without ever judging your moments.
Integrity
The file is complete and will still play decades from now
Safety
Screened against harmful and abusive content
Authenticity
It's really you — your face, your voice, your message
Quality
Clear enough to treasure: resolution, audio, duration
Preserved
Archived in formats built to outlast us all — 50+ years
We ask. We never watch.
There is no surveillance engine here. When the platform notices a probable interest — say, you've been sharing a lot about your dog — it doesn't build a profile. It asks one transparent question, and you choose what, and for how long.
A moment
"You've been posting about your dog…"
We ask first
Tick the categories you want: vets, supplies, local events
You set the timer
1 week, 1 month, 3 months or a year — then it switches itself off
Every ad answers to you
Relevant · Not relevant · Stop these — on every single ad
If you say no
- Nothing is stored
- Nothing is inferred
- No profile quietly accumulates
- We won't ask again for two months
If you say yes
- Only your chosen categories appear
- Labelled "Because you asked"
- Auto-expires unless you renew
- Guardian rules still outrank everything
The safe alternative to the group chat
The mothers group. The cycle club. The tech meetup. Today those groups live on WhatsApp — where a forwarded link lets anyone in, including children, where every member sees every phone number, and where the real harm happens in private messages nobody else can see. Communities bring those groups onto MiFamilias and invert all three.
Verified adults only
18+ checked on every entry — a forwarded invite link is useless to a child
Anchored in a family
Every member was vouched into a real family first — fake accounts have nowhere to come from
Everything in the open
No private messages exist — every conversation is visible to the group and its moderators
Posts that wait
A cooling-off window before every post goes live — heat-of-the-moment words can be taken back
The group WhatsApp
- Forwarded link = instant entry, any age
- Every member sees your phone number
- Private DMs — invisible to the group
- No moderation, no verification
A MiFamilias community
- Every entry passes the adult-verification gate
- Members see an avatar icon and auto-generated handle. Never a name or photo
- One open feed — moderators see everything
- Profanity blocked, images scanned, reports auto-hide
Community support, built in
- Owners and moderators get real tools — approve, remove, ban, instantly
- Three member reports auto-hide a post for moderator review
- Sensitive groups can require identity-verified members only
- Verified communities carry a badge — and you can choose to see only those
Sponsorship, on our terms
- Sponsored communities are labelled — unmissably
- Sponsors never see member data
- Sponsors cannot message members. Ever
- Suggestions only reach verified adults who asked for that interest
Different foundations, different outcomes
None of this is a feature toggle on a normal social network. It's what you get when you start from four different design principles and refuse to compromise on them.
Trust
We are custodians of irreplaceable family memories. Every design decision starts there.
Longevity
Built to last 50+ years. Formats, storage, and even our AI are chosen to outlive trends.
Privacy
Family content stays inside family bubbles. No data sold, no AI trained on your memories.
Simplicity
Easy enough for grandparents, engaging for grandchildren — across every generation between.
A network that starts with the people who matter
Right-side-up never worked for families. So we turned it upside down.
