Create a family
- Open the Families tabIt is the second tab along the bottom.
- Tap +Give your family a name, such as The Santos Family. You can add a photo or icon and change both later.
- You are its first memberAs the person who started it, you can invite others and manage the family's settings.
You can belong to more than one family, for example your own household and your parents' side. Each has its own feed and members.
Invite your relatives
- Open your family, then MembersTap Invite.
- Send by email or share a linkType their email (and, if you like, who they are to you, such as Mum), or tap Generate invite link and share it through WhatsApp, Messenger, Viber or Line.
- They install the app and joinThey follow the get the app guide, then open your link or type the code in. If they do not have the app yet, ask us for their place first.
Check it is really from family
Every invitation email shows the family's verification code, such as JAMES-4K7Q. If you are not sure an invitation is genuine, ask the person who sent it whether the code matches.
Join a family you were invited to
- Tap the invite link on your phone, or go to Families and enter the invite code.
- In a small family you are in straight away. In a larger one you may show as Pending until existing members vouch for you; that is how strangers are kept out. Ask a relative to open the member list and vouch.
- Invitations expire. If yours does not work, ask for a new one.
Share your first moment
On Home or in your family's feed, tap the + button. Add a few words and a photo, or record a short video. Only the members of the family you post to can see it.
Seal your first time capsule
- Open the Capsules tabTap Create Capsule.
- Record or choose your messageA video works best, but photos and text are fine too.
- Choose who and whenPick one person or your whole family, and the date it opens, such as a birthday.
- Seal itNobody can open it before that date, including us. While it is waiting you can change the date or cancel it.
During the beta
Capsules work, but beta content may be reset at launch. Treat long-dated capsules as a test for now, and keep your own copy of anything that matters.
Keep the family safe
- Family alerts: if you need your family urgently, send an alert from the family page. Everyone gets it at once, even in quiet hours. It does not contact the emergency services.
- Phone numbers: you choose, family by family, whether your number is shown, in Settings → Privacy.
- Notifications: choose how often you hear from the app, and set quiet hours, in Settings → Notifications.
